Q: Who are you?
I’m Seth Heasley, book-loving nerd, trying to improve my Geek Quotient by reading a bunch of award-winning Science Fiction novels. I’m also co-host of another podcast, Take Me To Your Reader.
Q: What’s going on here?
The idea behind the Hugos There Podcast is that Seth will read the Hugo Award winning novels one at a time, with his guest choosing the title.
Q: Can I guest?
Absolutely! The only requirements are a decent mic and the ability to connect with Seth over the internet. Pick a couple of titles off the List and shoot us an email at feedback at hugospodcast dot com.
Q: What’s up with the title? Shouldn’t it be Hugo’s There?
Seth likes puns and wordplay. One of his favorite bits of science fiction is John W. Campbell’s “Who Goes There?” since it became the incredibly awesome The Thing.
And it’s not “Hugo *is* there.” It’s where the Hugos are. Here. Or There. There are Hugos there. Something like that.
Q: What’s going on with the non-Hugos episodes?
At some point, as a podcaster, you have things you want to highlight, people you want to interview, or you just want to read or experience something different. So that’s where the Comfort Reads episodes came from. Sometimes I like to read something that’s not on the list of Hugo Winners.
Comfort Reads started in 2020, because I figured people might like to have some nice things highlighted in a dumpster fire of a year.
Q: What’s the app you use for recording your podcast?
Zencastr. And it’s awesome. Check out zencastr.com.
